Shenstone Library closes in light of new government rules.
As the world comes to grips with the Coronavirus outbreak, so too must we. Here at Shenstone Community Library we would be nothing without the support and patronage of our volunteers and our customers. With that in mind we have taken the difficult decision to change hour opening hours and temporarily close our Coffee Shop.
From today, Wednesday March 18th, following the government’s advice yesterday about the steps which need to be taken in the current coronavirus crisis Shenstone Library will be closed.
For the safety of volunteers and library visitors we will close the library completely. This means that our planned Tuesday morning opening will not be possible. All Staffordshire libraries are following this instruction. We are very sorry that our library will be closed and we won’t be able to offer our services to our beloved members. It is with heavy hearts that we will have no library for the foreseeable future but your health and well-being takes precedence over all other things. We will bounce back as soon as is humanly possible and the library and coffee shop will be back in business. We will keep you informed about any progress or useful information.
We understand that for many people who enjoy and indeed rely on our library as a hub within the community this will come as disappointing news, and there are none more upset than us. However, our volunteers are at the heart of the service offered to our community, and our customers are the reason Shenstone Library continues to flourish within the local community, and their well-being is paramount.
We look forward to re-opening at the earliest possible time allowed.
Below are a few questions that we hope may answer some of your questions at this time.
We are self-isolating and cannot get into the library to renew our books. What do I do?
Don’t worry. The loan period for all books on loan will be extended until 27 June.
I have already extended the loan time, on my books, can it be extended further without charge?
Yes books can be renewed for a further period until 27 June.
What do I do if I can’t return my book?
Don’t worry. Return your books when you are no longer self isolating and if they are overdue, fines will be waived
Are activities still on in the libraries, where can I see if they are cancelled?
All regular library activities and events will be suspended from 5pm on Friday 20 March.
Is Shenstone Community library remaining open?
No. In light of the government advice we will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
How will I find out when the Library is re-opening?
As soon as we are able to re-open in a manner that ensures the safety of our volunteers and customers and in line with government advice we will be announcing this on this website, via email and across our social media channels. We will also put posters up in the library should the situation change.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us and most importantly, stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you to the library soon.
