The village festival is this weekend and we’ve got lots going on!
This years Shenstone Village Festival (June 29th-30th.) is finally here and we can’t wait to join in all the fun. There’s loads going on both at the library and in the whole village as the community comes together for a weekend of fun, events, flowers and of course cake!
The Village festival has been running for many years and is a celebration of our beloved village and the amazing people and happenings we have going on. Taking place every 2 years, the Festival will be running on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June. There will be a host of exciting and fun activities throughout the day including the following
Open Gardens – Don’t miss your chance to take a look at 19 of Shenstone’s most beautiful gardens as the residents open their doors and invite you to enjoy the fruits of their gardening labours.
Shenstone Heritage Trail – Shenstone Library Local History Group is delighted to be releasing the full Shenstone Heritage Trail during this years festival. The trail features 3 different routes which can all be joined to make one long and fascinating journey through the history of our village
Flower Displays – If you’re a fan of floristry, you won’t want to miss the flower displays housed in the churches which are sure to be as bright and beautiful as ever.
Shenstone Library Photo Exhibition – Taking place in the library Art Gallery, this years Photo Exhibition has a very special theme: Shenstone. We’ll be showcasing a huge range of photos all taken by our members and local residents of our village. If the quality of last years submissions are anything to go by, this will be an absolute must. (p.s. You can still submit your own photo up until May 11th! Click here for details)
Classic Car and Bike Rally (Sunday Only) – For fans of vintage automobiles and bikes, the Classic Car and Bike Rally which is usually held up on the Glebe at St Johns Church is full of stunning vehicles from days gone by.
Children’s Entertainment and Games (Saturday Only) – Don’t worry, we haven’t forgot the younger Shenstone residents! On Saturday at the Glebe, there’ll be a big range of children’s entertainment and games on at the festival which are such to be great fun for those under the age of 16 (and a few over 16’s too!)
Pet Show – For those of you with pets, why not bring them along to our Pet Show? There will be prizes aplenty as the prettiest, jolliest, waggiest pets go head to head and enjoy their moment in the sun!
The Shenstone Village Festival 2019 is sure to be a fantastic weekend for all the family, and the best part is that we’ll be open every day of the festival!
To access all of the indoor attractions, there will be a Shenstone Village Festival programme. This will act as a ‘ticket’ for access to all of the events. All proceeds from sales of the programme will be going to local worthy causes such as the Scouts, Guides, Brownies and Greysbrooke Shcool, as well as both churches and there will also be donations made to local charities.
A programme is not needed to attend Saturday’s Glebe events. But please remember that if you would like to access the Open Gardens and Flower Displays then you must purchase a Shenstone Festival Programme which will act as your ticket to enter these areas. These are on sale and available from the library desk during our opening times and also from several other outlets including the Village shop.
